The Muslim Educational Society (MES), Kozhikkod, is a pioneering nurture of the Muslim Community in Kerala, established in 1964 under the tutelage of the charismatic personality of the late Dr. P.K. Abdul Gaffoor and a lot of other philantheopists. Though MES had a very humble begining, it is functioning at present as one of the top-notch educational agencies in Kerala with a wide network of over 20 reputed CBSE Schools, 6 high schools & H.S.S.s under state syllabus and 12 well-established regular degree colleges. Seven of them imparting instructions in Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science and aliied fields are NAAC accredited post-graduate institutions.

MES college of Engineering, Kuttipuram, is the first self-financed engineering college in Kerala, and it is the first engineering college in the state where self-financed M.Tech course has been sanctioned.

Five other colleges are exclusively meant for women education. Apart from these, MES has also been running Teacher Education Colleges(BEd), Teachers Training Institutes(TTI) and Colleges for Nursing, Pharmacy and Dental Science. As far as the schools are concerned, they follow various syllabi - Kerala State, CBSE and ICSE. Most of the institutions are situated in backward areas with the primary target of paving ways for a balanced educational advancement in the state. In fact, MES has been doing a yeoman service by promoting higher education and technical education and improving and maintaining the staandard and quality of education among various strata of society in general and the minorities and backward classes in particular. As a part of this mission, MES also disburses schlarships and merit awards worth over Rs. 2 million per annum for the poor but brilliant students. It is no wonder that MES is the biggest scholarship distributor across the country. Besides all these, the Society has thousands of active and sincere members as its manpower to create a conducive atmosphere for the fulfilment of its mission and targets. Now MES has growth to such a height that it is the largest Corporate Educational agency of the Muslims in India. It has also registered its presence in all Middle East Nations.
